Tim Anderson has a nice article up on the pros and cons of Adobe AIR.
A few things come into mind when reading the lists. First off, the pros clearly outweigh the cons. I don't see proprietary technology as a problem, and even the UI inconsistency in this context should not be much of a problem. We are talking about RIA's anyways, and the toolset needs to comprehensive, not limiting. The basic philosophy (mostly the 4 first points) are just golden, and make AIR worthwhile.
Another point is that I would like to raise Adobe AIR on mobile devices as possible con. If you want to make a cross-platform, world dominating RIA, you need to handle mobile (at least high end mobile) well. Convergence is coming stronger than ever before. And yet I have not seen Adobe addressing this.
