E-books are not the typical thing to get me pumped up, but when Amazon is planning to do it, that is a different case.
According to TechCrunch, Amazon will be launching an E-book (The Kindle) reader with EVDO connectivity in the price range of 400 to 500 dollars. Technically nothing special compared to what Sony has already been offering for a while.
But, Amazon is a company that understands their consumers, which is a totally different case than Sony. The breakthrough online retailer for books, creating an E-book reader and the service ecosystem to go with it, could the match be any better. The massive amount of book consumer data Amazon hold's in their palm is going to create interesting opportunities to try out in the E-book market that only Amazon is able to conjure. Content will not be a problem for E-books anymore. If I would have to be worried about something, that would be hardware quality. There is no existing proof that Amazon will deliver in that arena also, and this hardware will be driven by partnering.
If Amazon does not breakthrough with E-books, then no one will!
