-Apple and Nokia both want very badly to be the dominant mobile computing platform for young adults-
A very simple sentence, but a gruesome battle in front of the two companies. Michael Mace is right (it is his sentence after all), Apple and Nokia will be going at it in the next months and years to fight for the spotlight of mobile computing. He also succeeds greatly in introducing the opponents, but somehow the picture is too simple. Of course simplification is needed to argue a point like this, which is understandable.
Even though Nokia and Apple are at the center of this competition, the painting is just not dry enough to really see all the shapes in it. I somehow don't believe Microsoft going away so easily. They have many times acknowledged that mobile computing is the next place, and they will certainly want to be apart of that competition (and have the money to do it). Google is of course also another candidate. Will they be ready to play second fiddle to Nokia or Apple, as Nokia at least will clearly step on Google's advertising toes. Everyone sees mobile advertising as the next goldmine.
In addition to the usual suspects, there will be something else, can't pinpoint it now however.
