Microsoft really serious about Silverlight on Linux

Few days ago I wrote on Microsoft's plan to support Silverlight on Linux also, and now O'Reilly has some new information on the shared project. Microsoft really seems to be serious about Linux.

The project Moonlight, lead by Novell, will get access to the exact same test cases as Microsoft uses, they will have the specification for both the 1.0 and 1.1 release in advance, and the codecs used on Silverlight will be available as binaries for Linux users.

The scope of this collaboration makes it clear how aggressively Microsoft is really gunning for Adobe. They are not shying away from holding hands with one of their largest competitors for desktop dominance, to advance in the RIA competition.

Microsoft is still one of the boldest companies in the world, when it comes to competitive maneuvering.
